With only 24 days till Christmas its time to start thinking about your Christmas Table decor and I thought now would be a great time to show you how I decorated our table for Christmas lunch last year. It can be a little daunting deciding on what style to go with but, I usually pic a colour scheme, walk around my garden in December looking for plants to match and then I will buy one or two new decor items to accentuate the colour or theme of my table.

Being in the southern hemisphere, with heat and humidity, I often wonder what a “white Christmas” would be like. Snow flakes, hot chocolate, roasts, cold noses, snow fights and the like. Christmas in sunny South Africa means water fights, pool days, new costumes, cocktails and heat. I wanted my table to reflect what a hot Christmas in SA is actually like. A South African Christmas. Proteas, I love Proteas, but they are not in season during December, and I only discovered this after I had designed my protea wreath stationery to go with my South African Decor. With a little disappointment and a few phone calls to the local florists I managed to source some beautiful Pin cushion Proteas. I added my gold glittery reindeer, which I bought on Sale a few days after Christmas in 2015 from Wool worths, just to have some traditional reference to Christmas. I found some rose gold ballbeltjies (christmas balls) which I scattered down the centre of the table and borrowed some gorgeous grass place mats from The Basket Company and found some gold spray paint in the garage which I sprayed just the tips of some of the greenery, and it was done. Quick and easy. I created a little bit of height in the centre of the table and worked my way outwards, shortening the length of the stems and the different features of the decor.
